Why should I go?
Virginia is the first state in America to require computer science for all K-12 students beginning fall 2017. As a result, we want to make sure our students are prepared and confident with basic technology skills. Capital One, in partnership with the Virginia Secretary of Technology, has created 10 Coders Experiences so that girls from every school district are able to attend.
By attending this program, you will:
- Learn how to code
- Partner with other girls that are interested in technology
- Creatively challenge yourself to design your own app
- Participate in a Hackfest competition
Compete for a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Women in Technology (WIT)
Experience in Richmond on November 15, 2017.
How do I get chosen to attend the WIT Experience in November?
Three winning teams from each location will be invited to attend the WIT Experience in November. The winners will receive an informational packet with more information about the WIT Experience upon winning.
Who will teach the girls to code?
Since absolutely no coding experience is required, there will be plenty of mentors to help the girls learn the basics. The mentors are Capital One associates who have plenty of experience in all things technology!
