June 16, 2016 – SSC Director & Transition Timing
Effective June 13, 2016, Ms. Kathy Mets began employment with the VCCS as the Director of the Shared Services Center. Kathy has experience with shared services centers, having been directly involved with developing or expanding them for three different organizations. Kathy came to the VCCS from Howden North America, a Coalfax Company, where she oversaw the shared services center and functioned as the company’s corporate controller. She was also integral in development of SSCs for Performance Food Group (a $10 billion food distributor) and Solectron (a $30 billion electronics manufacturer). As she transitions into her role for the VCCS, her challenge will be to make tangible the underlying promises and commitments of the SSC… Shared Ownership. Shared Governance. Shared Value. We are excited to welcome Kathy on board and look forward to seeing how the center begins to take shape under her leadership.
We have also received confirmation that Virginia Western will be in the initial group of colleges to go live with Time and Labor and Absence Management services, specifically calendar processing and time administration, with a target date of July 25. Joining us will be Blue Ridge Community College and New River Community College. These initial transactions are anticipated to be seamless to the college community and will not significantly impact our work. Stay tuned for additional updates as we move into July.
In addition to these updates, don’t forget that you can also visit Buzz as a supplemental resource to help you stay up-to-date on how the SSC is evolving. And, as always, don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.
