If you need a class that's not on the class schedule for this semester, ask your Program Advisor about taking an SSDL class. Shared Services Distance Learning (SSDL) courses allow Virginia Western students to earn credit while taking an online course taught by an instructor from another Virginia Community College, while using testing centers near them to complete any required proctored assignments. This allows Virginia Western students to take advantage of a variety of specialized courses that may not be offered on campus, or help students meet course requirements to complete a degree or certificate in a more timely manner.

> What is Online Learning?
Online learning provides educational opportunities of rigor and quality equivalent to traditional classroom delivery, providing flexible and accessible lifelong learning opportunities that serve our diverse community population.
All online courses and programs at Virginia Western meet academic standards established by the Virginia Community College System State Council on Higher Education in Virginia, SCHEV and are accepted as part of the graduation requirement for an approved degree, diploma, or certificate. Curriculum credit for online learning courses is equivalent in credit hours to on-campus sections of the same courses listed in the College catalog.

Virginia Western online courses are presented through Canvas, a centralized student friendly learning management system.
