Virginia Western students can apply for scholarships now through May 1, 2022, using a new and easy online application. More than 90 scholarships worth $366,000 will be offered by the Virginia Western Educational Foundation for the fall 2022 semester. Scholarships are awarded primarily based on academic merit, program of study and financial need.
To start, students visit www.virginiawestern.edu/scholarships and click the APPLY button. They will log into the new ScholarshipUniverse platform using their Virginia Western credentials.
From there, they will be asked a series of questions about themselves that match them to the criteria of specific scholarships.
Questions include:
- Are you a single parent?
- Are you a first-generation college student?
- Do you intend to transfer to Virginia Tech?
- Do you intend to live and work in the Roanoke Region after graduating?
- Do you have a disability?
Answering more questions opens the students up to more funding – offered by both the Educational Foundation as well as from outside regional and national organizations.
“The Educational Foundation invested in the ScholarshipUniverse platform with hopes of expanding options for financial support while making the process easier for our students,” said Amanda Mansfield, Philanthropy Director. “We are excited to launch our system with so much to offer.”
Scholarship awards range from $500 to more than $2,000 per semester. For instructions on how to apply and to review the list of fall 2022 scholarships, visit www.virginiawestern.edu/scholarships.
