Virginia Western Community College will host open houses and provide advising to current Miller-Motte Technical College students who are not eligible to complete their studies under the closing Roanoke campus’ “teach-out” plan. The College’s Workforce Solutions division provides several programs that directly relate to programs offered at Miller-Motte and have the potential for funding assistance through the Workforce Credentials Grant (WCG).  WCG covers up to two-thirds the cost of course tuition for eligible Virginia residents.

Workforce Solutions is well positioned to serve students who are seeking to begin the following programs this fall:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist
  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
  • Medication Aide
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam Prep

Virginia Western’s Fast-Track healthcare credential programs range from two to 16 weeks, and provide hands-on education and career training. Students will learn the technical and soft skills to prepare them for a career in healthcare, and upon completion take the appropriate industry certification exam. In addition to these Workforce Solutions programs, Virginia Western offers more than 70 programs of study and coursework that teaches students the skills they need to transfer to a four-year university or immediately begin a promising career. Credit for prior learning and exams to evaluate transfer credits may be available to students based upon their experience and program of study.
