Virginia Western Community College’s Amy Anguiano, Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Science, has been named one of just 24 national recipients of the 2017 Distinguished College Administrator Award, presented by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). PTK, a national honor society for students at 2-year colleges, presented Anguiano with the award at its annual convention in April in Nashville, TN.
“I love working with the Phi Theta Kappa students on our campus. They have such energy and enthusiasm!” Anguiano said. “It amazes me every semester to see how the advisors encourage and mentor the students to help them achieve their goals. I am honored that this group took the time to nominate me for this award.”
The Distinguished College Administrator Award is given to college vice presidents, deans or directors who have demonstrated a strong level of support for PTK during their tenure. Anguiano is the only 2017 recipient from among Virginia’s Community Colleges.
