Virginia Western Community College will host on-campus information sessions regarding the Community College Access Program (CCAP) at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 and Jan. 15 in Whitman Theater. Area high school students and their parents can learn about CCAP requirements and have their questions answered by college advisors. The 2015 CCAP application period is from Jan. 5, 2015-Feb. 27, 2015.

CCAP is a public/private partnership that makes college available tuition-free to graduates of public high schools in the localities of Botetourt County, Craig County, Franklin County, Roanoke City, Roanoke County and Salem. CCAP is also available to Franklin County homeschooled students. In combination with federal/state financial aid, CCAP covers the cost of tuition for up to two years at Virginia Western.

Students and parents attending the information sessions will learn more about the CCAP requirements and the application process. In the event of a college closing due to inclement weather, there will be a makeup information session at 6 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Whitman Theater.
