Support the Roanoke Public Library

Need something to do this coming Monday night? Come join us in a show of support for the public library. Friends of the Roanoke Public Library and other concerned community members will be at the short City Council meeting to celebrate the Library Master Plan and encourage its continued implementation.

Accomplishments thus far include the award-winning Valley View Mall e-branch and the Garden City e-branch, which had more than 25,000 visitors last year, and the renovations of both the Jackson Park and Gainsboro branches. These renovations included building new community and study rooms and expanding the book collection; teen centers will be completed early next year. Both a “Superbranch” and “Storefront” branch have been recommended as state-of-the-art facilities for the future.

In order for more improvements to be made in the future, we need to show the Council that the citizens of the Roanoke Valley value the library and its expansion. So bring some friends, a small book, and raise your hand in support of the public library!

LOCAL EVENT: 7:00pm-7:30pm, City Council Chambers (4th Floor) in the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Bldg., 215 Church Avenue, Roanoke.
