Brown Library will reopen January 19, 2021 with our normal operating hours. The library will be closed whenever the campus is closed, including all holidays and inclement weather or emergency closures.

InfoGuides are a great place to start your research. They contain suggested databases, search tips, videos, citation guidance, and much more. To access a list of our InfoGuides, organized by Subject Area, choose “InfoGuides” from the library’s homepage.
To see a list of article databases, choose “Find Articles” from the library’s homepage and select “Databases.” All library databases and eBooks can be accessed off-campus 24/7 by logging in with your MyVWCC username and password when prompted. If you have trouble with your MyVWCC username or password, contact the Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interlibrary Loan is available to request books and articles the library does not have. Please contact a librarian if you need assistance identifying research materials. Information on contacting a librarian can be found below.
Current VWCC students, staff, and faculty may use the library catalog https://vcc-vwc-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/search?vid=VWCC to search for main collection books & DVDs and place holds. Users will click “sign in” to sign into their account and choose the option to “request” the desired item. Library staff will pull the book or DVD from the shelf, check it out to the user, and have it available at the first floor desk for pickup.
Because they have short loan periods and are unable to be sanitized between uses, reserve textbooks and reference books will not be circulated.
To see a list of eBooks, choose “Find Books” from the library’s homepage and select “Catalog.” Enter keywords in the search box. From the search results list, you may use limiters on the right side of the screen to limit to full text online and select specific resource types, like book chapters or eBooks.
The library offers a 24/7 online chat/ instant messaging service to help with research questions. Simply click on “Ask a Librarian Chat” on our library homepage to ask a question and get help day or night.
If you need more in-depth help, librarians Katelyn Burton, Dale Dulaney, and Marci Myers are also available to conduct research consultations by appointment via phone, email, or Zoom videoconferencing. Current students can also receive free online tutoring for all subjects 24/7 through Brainfuse. Log into the MyVWCC portal and choose the option for Brainfuse to sign in. Then, choose the topic & subject you need help with and you’ll be matched with an online tutor. Click Connect to begin working with your tutor right away. Brainfuse also includes flashcards, practice quizzes, and study guides that can be accessed 24/7 online.
