The Application Support department has two main support areas: Database Applications support and SIS/Peoplesoft support.
Database Applications & the Intranet (VWConnect)
This area creates and manages web based programs which access SIS data and/or provide authenticated access to custom functionality, some examples of which are listed below. In addition, selected documents and processes are made available to the campus community via VWConnect, the college intranet, which requires valid VWCC email credentials for access..
- The VWCC Extended Services Application gives authenticated access to students for things like advising, testing center access and so on. Faculty and Staff are granted access to manage the applications via the admin section.
- The VWCC Virginia Western Internal Application gives authenticated access to Faculty and Staff of Virginia Western to IIWS and other applications, which streamline their work processes.
- The VWCC Intranet is currently only accessible from on-campus locations. This will soon be replaced by a “new improved” web site that will be accessible from off-campus.
SIS/Peoplesoft Support
