How to…
… make an on-campus call
Lift the handset and dial the 5 digit extension (7-XXXX).
… make a local, off-campus call
Lift the handset and dial 9 + the number (9-540-555-1234).
… make a long distance, off-campus call within VA
Lift the handset and dial 8 + 1 + the number (8-1-540-555-1234).
… make a long distance, off-campus call outside of VA
Lift the handset and dial 9 + 1 + the number (9-1-540-555-1234).
Note: These are billable!
… transfer a call to an inside extension
- While on a call, press the Transfer button or softkey.
- Dial the 5-digit extension you wish to transfer the call to (7-XXXX).
- If desired, speak to the person you’re transferring the call to.
- Press the Transfer or softkey again to complete the transfer.
… transfer a call to a voice mailbox
- While on a call, press Transfer button or softkey.
- Press the * button.
- Dial the 5-digit extension (7-XXXX).
- Press the Transfer button or softkey again and hang up.
… customize your phone’s rings
- Press the Settings button.
- Select User Preferences.
- Select Rings.
- Select a phone line or Default Ring.
- User the navigation button to scroll through the ring types. Press the softkey button below Play to hear a selected ring.
- When you find the ring you want, press the softkey button below Select.
- Press the softkey button below Save and then exit out of User Preferences.
… make a call using one of the directories
- Press the Directories button.
- Using the navigation button, scroll to the directory that you want to look.
- Press the softkey button below Select to select a directory.
- Scroll to the entry you wan t ocall and then press the softkey button below Dial to dial the number.
Note: If you select the Corporate Directory, you can search the directory by entering a character or characters into one of the fields shown and then pressing the softkey below Search.
… check your voicemail from your phone
Press the Voicemail or Messages button and enter your PIN.
… check your voicemail from another on-campus phone or a voice mailbox with no phone
- Press the Voicemail or Messages button.
- Press *.
- Enter your “ID” (5-digit extension), followed by #.
- Enter your PIN, followed by #.
… check your voicemail from off-campus
- Dial your phone number and wait for your greeting to play.
- During the greeting, press *.
- Enter your “ID” (5-digit extension), followed by #.
- Enter your PIN, followed by #.
- To access your mailbox, press 2.
… make a conference call
- Dial the first number normally.
- Once the party has answered, press the softkey button below More.
- Press the softkey button below Confrn.
- Dial the number for the next party.
- Once the second party has answered, press the softkey button below Confrn. The conference call is now established.
You may add additional parties by repeating steps 2-5 above. Note: Only the person who made the first call can add people to the conference call.
… park a call
- While on a call, press the softkey button below More.
- Press the softkey button below Park.
- Note the number on the telephone’s display (e.g. Call park at 79101). This will only be on the display for a few seconds.
- To pick up the call at another phone, dial the Call Park number (e.g. 7-9101). You will now be reconnected.
… set up an out-of-office message
- Press the Messages button.
- Enter your voicemail password, followed by #.
- After any messages have played, press 4 for Setup Options.
- Press 1 for Greetings. The currently selected greeting will be heard.
- You will hear the following options:
- 1: Re-record this greeting
- 2: Turn on/off your alternate greeting
- 3: Edit other greetings
- 4: Hear all greetings
- The alternate greeting is the one you want to use for out-of-office messages.
- Press 3 to edit your greeting, then 3 again to record your alternate greeting.
- Press 1 to record a new alternate greeting, record your greeting, and then press #.
- Press 3 to turn on your alternate greeting.
- Choose whether you wish to set an end date and time, then follow the prompts.
- Hang up. Your alternate greeting is set.
Note: If you did not set an end date, to turn off your alternate greeting follow steps 1-5b above.
