AAS Nursing Program Support Fund
The purpose is to support full-time and part-time Virginia Western faculty not only professionally but to support nursing department needs that enhance student education. In addition, the fund shall be used to reward the recipient of the “Spirit of Nursing” Award who recognizes a student who is gifted at balancing the art and science of nursing.
American Culinary Federation Program Support Fund
Supports student ACF membership/credentialing, related opportunities and professional development.
Automotive Program Fund
Supports the expanded automotive service technician training launched in January 2020 by School of Career and Corporate Training and School of Business, Trades and Technology.
Brown Library Collections Fund
Supports Brown Library’s physical and digital collections.
Community Arboretum Endowment Fund
Gifts to the Community Arboretum Endowment Fund help sustain a unique educational opportunity on the campus of Virginia Western. The Arboretum stimulates interest in valley-wide beautification and promotes environmental consciousness. Click here for more information about the Arboretum Fund.
Community Arboretum Operating Fund
Supports general operating expenses for Virginia Western’s Community Arboretum. Click here for the Arboretum website.
Culinary Arts Program
Supports equipment, training and other needs of the VWCC Culinary Arts program.
Dental Hygiene Fund
Provides equipment upgrades for the VWCC Dental Hygiene program.
Engineering Fund
Helps develop and maintain Engineering Division programs.
Partners in Education Fund
Supports students enrolled in credit degree programs (AAS and CSC) by providing for the cost of certification examinations. Complementing the short term workforce development credential programs, the Partners in Education Fund will provide for the high-level industry recognized credentials that cannot be covered by short-term concentrations. Funds may also be used to hire instructors for specific certification review sessions.
Special Criteria:
- Students must be enrolled in a an AAS or CSC program at Virginia Western Community College, and must have completed the related certification course at Virginia Western.
- Students must have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Students must receive a recommendation and prior approval from the appropriate faculty member to apply for PIE support.
- Students who pass the exam will provide data for VWCC to publish in outcomes (excluding information regarding specific grades).
- The Partners in Education Fund will not pay for retakes of exams.
Spring Fling Fund
Supports annual VWCC event.
Student Tutoring Program Support Fund
Supports retention of student peer tutors.
Veterans Assistance Fund
Addresses emergency financial needs impacting military and veteran students at Virginia Western Community College.
Funds shall provide emergency assistance for books, other related fees to students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum 2.0 grade point average who are honorably serving or who have honorably served in the United States Armed Forces to include the United States Coast Guard and its components. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need.
Virginia Western Alumni Association Fund
Support service projects that benefit the students and activities of the Virginia Western.
Virginia Western Bee Campus USA Program Fund
Supports Virginia Western’s Bee Campus USA program, designed to marshal the strengths of educational campuses for the benefit of pollinators.
Virginia Western Rapids Response Student Emergency Fund
Provides assistance to students with exceptional financial hardships. Examples of types of emergencies or hardships to be considered: house fire, medical issues, homelessness, food insecurity and lack of transportation or technology. Students enrolled in CCT programs may also receive assistance.
