In 2019, Virginia Western Community College launched a new scholarship program for students in STEM-H (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and health care) programs of study. The Fralin Futures scholarships undertake to:
- Focus on the “finish line,” funding the recipient’s last two semesters before graduating
- Recognize academic excellence in STEM-H programs of study (3.0 GPA or higher)
- Offer cohort activities and mentorships affiliated with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute
The scholarship supports:
- The total cost of tuition (max. 15 credits/semester) for the final 2 semesters prior to graduation
- An additional monetary stipend equal to the cost of tuition each semester
- A cash incentive upon graduation
- A second cash incentive 6 months post-graduation, after reporting employment status
If you will be enrolled in a STEM or Health Professions degree program, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better and finish your program in December 2025 or May 2026, you may apply for the 2025 Fralin Futures STEM-H Scholarship. Submit one application and you will be considered not only for the Fralin Futures Scholarship, but any of the more than 100 scholarships where your application answers match to the scholarship criteria. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2025.
