Purpose or Role of the Position within the Organization:
VWCC employs TRIO Lab Assistants to provide direct support to students applying to the TRIO program, students already participating in the program, and TRIO staff members who provide targeted and in-depth assistance to TRIO students.
Duties/Responsibilities of the position and how they relate to the purpose or role
Under the guidance of the TRIO Office Manager and other relevant staff, TRIO Lab Assistants provide support to students and office staff by:
- Assisting in daily tasks, including but not limited to, preparing computer labs for student use by ensuring equipment is working and supplies are in stock.
- Setting up lab for TRIO sponsored workshops and events.
- Checking-in and checking-out TRIO students and assisting them with computer usage.
- Cleaning workstations after use.
- Assisting with department events by creating handouts for orientation, flyers and invitations for campus events such as TRIO Success Academy, resource workshops, welcome week and graduation, as necessary.
- Supporting staff during outreach events by creating flyers, sign-in forms and speaking to students about the TRIO Program.
- Attending and contributing to check-in meetings.
- Participating in orientation, training, professional development workshops, and other meetings as required.
