The Professional Development/Events Committee of the Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Culture has organized two sessions focused on Intentional Inclusion.
A message from the Committee:
Join some of your VCCS peers as we discuss ways to Intentionally Include…everyone. The topics of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Culture can be intimidating to tackle, and our goal is to approach the topic from a perspective that every VCCS employee can embrace without fear – taking care of our students and each other. Instead of lectures from far-away experts, your colleagues will share their successes and best practices with a foundation in common sense and kindness. Come participate in this learning process with us while you eat a snack or can break away from your emails and meetings for a bit.
The sessions are scheduled on March 7, Intentionally Inclusive Campuses, and March 21, Intentionally Inclusive Programming (registration link embedded with date). Registration is required so that we can track interest. Watch for details on the “Let’s Talk About Women,” a two-part session featuring some of our college presidents.
Audience: Everyone is invited. Let’s see which college has the most signups! People who work with facilities, administration, human resources, and student services may be particularly interested in Intentionally Inclusive Campuses on March 7. Anyone who is interested in learning about the types of programming that occurs at some of our colleges will love what they hear and learn how to duplicate the efforts on March 21.
Special thanks to Committee members: Phillip Bradshaw, Camp; Jodi Gillette, chair, and Matt Latimer, Central Virginia; Faith Gaile, Laurel Ridge; Jolene Hamm, Virginia Western; Emily Jones-Green, System Office; Dyan Lester, Southwest Virginia; Sherice Paige, NOVA; and Lewis Silverman, Virginia Peninsula.
