How can we increase and promote our support for military-affiliated students? We can prepare ourselves to better understand the experience of veterans, service members, and their families. The University of Arizona Global Campus offers the Green Zone Certification, a free asynchronous program designed to train faculty and staff to become allies to military-affiliated students. Faculty and staff who become Green Zone advocates can display the Green Zone seal in their office or on their syllabus, allowing students to identify who has a deeper understanding and appreciation of their military experience and can assist and connect them to available resources.
The Green Zone Certification consists of six modules covering topics like military finance options, transition, and service-connected disabilities. The material included provides foundational knowledge on how to best serve military-affiliated students. To receive the Green Zone Certification and badge, participants must complete all six modules and pass the final assessment.
