Construction on the North Campus Roadway project begins Tuesday, June 14, 2022. The roadway goes from back of Brown Library to Lot 14 on a steady slope.
Lot 6 will remain in use for approximately the next 2 months. A barrier will be set-up just beyond Lot 6 as the construction site entrance. Lots 8E, 10 and 14 will be unavailable for parking during the construction. Initial mobilization entails surveying, clearing, grubbing, erosion control, installation of the stormwater tanks and rough grading preparations. This will be followed by the roadway finishing with guardrails, curb, gutter, asphalt and lighting. When the roadway finishing work begins, Lot 6 will close for new curb, asphalt and sidewalks. Sufficient notification will be provided prior to temporary closure of Lot 6 along with the estimated duration of its closure. Signage will be provided for access to Brown Library and the testing center. Lot 5 will remain open for permitted vehicles and unchanged.
In August, barriers will be installed in Lot 9 to enable motor cycle classes and normal parking to occur while a traffic median is installed. The median will separate the cycle course and parking from the through vehicle lanes. The median will give definition to lower lot 9 and improve safety. Work in other parking lots includes curb work, resurfacing asphalt, sealing and striping. Schedule of work in these smaller lots is currently unknown but notification will be provided ahead of work. No work is planned in Lots 1, 1E and upper lots 9 (adjacent Colonial Ave and STEM) as improvements there are recent. We appreciate your patience during implementation of these improvements.
