Dear Campus Community:
Last year the college initiated a project to revitalize its parking lots and improve vehicle and pedestrian safety. That project is now entering its construction phase and work is scheduled to begin in mid to late May 2022.
The project provides a new and evenly sloped roadway from behind the Brown Library to Lot 14 and reconfiguration of Lot 8E and Lot 10. This will require closure of the existing roadway to those locations for several months. Lot 6 will be closed to recurb, repave and replace concrete walkways for better ADA access. Lower lot 9 will remain open for weekend motorcycle classes while a grassy curbed median is installed to control traffic flow and safely direct vehicle traffic around its perimeter. The new traffic lane will connect Overland roundabout to the south campus roadway leading to upper Lot 9, Lot 2, 3, 1 and 1E. This design improves safety and access clarity to these parking lots. Work in other lots will occur to resurface, seal or stripe pavement as appropriate for the maintenance required.
More detailed information will be provided about a week prior to work regarding specific areas. Every effort will be made to provide sufficient notification so faculty and students can plan a temporary alternate route or parking area during the duration of work in that area. Much of this work will occur in sequence over a period of time. The bulk of the project is expected to occur between late May and September but other work will continue until December. We appreciate your patience during the construction of these improvements.
