Colleagues,
The Chancellor and his VCCS-led search committee have been working diligently to narrow the presidential pool down to the finalists who will visit our campus. Yesterday, the State Board for Community Colleges formally approved 3 finalists for our presidential search. Those finalists, in alphabetical order, are Dr. Daryl Minus, Dr. Jamonica Rolle, and Dr. Laura Treanor. Please visit the VCCS news page for brief bio of each candidate: https://www.vccs.edu/news/finalists-certified-for-virginia-western-community-college-presidency/.
Candidate Visits
Given the fact that the finalists were able to be certified this week, we are planning to host candidates on our campus the week of April 7 – 11. A series of forums will be held during each candidate’s campus visit. During these forums, the candidates will share information about themselves, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. Candidate-specific surveys will be made available for your feedback. These surveys are an important part of the search process and your opportunity to ensure that your voice is heard. Results from the surveys will be compiled by the search firm who has facilitated this search and shared with our Local Advisory Board and the Chancellor.
Forum Schedules
Please see the below schedule for the forums planned for each candidate. Because of the complexity of the schedule, each forum will only be held once for each candidate. If you are unable to attend the forum specific to your group, you are also welcome to attend the community forum.
We will welcome our finalists to campus as follows:
- Tuesday, April 8 – Dr. Jamonica Rolle
- Thursday, April 10 – Dr. Daryl Minus
- Friday, April 11 – Dr. Laura Treanor
The intended daily schedule for candidate forums:
Time | Forum | Location |
11:30a – 12:30p | Classified Staff and Wage Employees | Whitman Auditorium |
12:45p – 1:30p | Lunch Forum with Students | Student Life Center |
2:00p – 3:00p | Teaching and Administrative/Professional Faculty | Whitman Auditorium |
3:30p – 4:30p | Community Members (open to all) | Whitman Auditorium |
Thank you in advance for your participation in making these campus visits a warm and welcoming experience for all of our candidates! I know that each of you is extremely invested in ensuring that our next President is the best fit for our campus community and your participation and feedback will be critical in making that happen.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pittman
