Joe Collins passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 67. A true friend and confidant to all who knew him, Joe made his community and the world a brighter place with his caring nature, his steadfast love of family and friends, and his faith.
Joe’s artistic abilities and organizational skills led him to work at several architecture firms around the Roanoke, Virginia, area, as well as at Virginia Western Community College, where he spent the final 17+ years of his career. Joe patiently guided countless students along their academic paths, and his graphic design artwork made a lasting impact, an example of which is the “Greetings from Roanoke” mural downtown.
A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Whitman Theater at Virginia Western Community College. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
In life, Joe brought family and friends together with a profound sense of love and devotion. In his passing, his friendship will continue to help us get by.
In remembrance of Joe’s life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider charitable donations to the Virginia Western Student Food Co-op, fueled by Kroger. This is an on-campus student food pantry. https://www.virginiawestern.edu/student-life/food-pantry/
