Join us on Friday, November 8th, from 11:00am to 2:00pm on the 3rd floor of the Student Life Center for a special celebration of our First-Generation students, faculty, and staff.
Back by popular demand, our MC for the event is Schuyler Van Montfrans!
We need your support at OPEN MIC as we celebrate the achievements and stories of our First-Generation community. This event is hosted by TRIO, Great Expectations, CCAP, and Student Activities.
All Students, Faculty, and Staff are Encouraged to Participate!
• Sing (karaoke style or acapella), dance, celebrate
• Read an inspiring poem or quote
• Share your First-Generation college student story
• Share your TRIO supporter story
This is a powerful opportunity for our current students to hear and be inspired by your experiences. Plus, there’s a prize for the best duet involving a student and a faculty/staff member and FREE PIZZA!
Are you a First Generation Student? According to the U.S. Department of Education, a first-generation student is one whose parents/guardians have not earned a Bachelor’s degree. By this definition, nearly 50% or more of our students are First Generation!
