The Educational Foundation provides the Rapids Response Student Emergency Fund to help Virginia Western students in an emergency situation requiring funds they may not have at hand. The Rapids Response Fund can help with a rent payment, utility bill, car repair, textbooks, medical bill or other unexpected costs that could cause a student to leave college before they have met their goal of an Associate’s degree or certificate of study.
The Rapids Response Student Emergency Fund application is available each fall and spring semester online and can be found at https://www.virginiawestern.edu/foundation/student-funds/. The only requirements are that a student must have previously completed 6 credits in one semester at VWCC and they are in good standing with the college.
Faculty and staff, if you know of a student who can use this type of support, please encourage them to apply. Turnaround from application to award is 24-48 hrs. and can make a real difference in a student’s ability to succeed at Virginia Western.
