NASA to hold event on campus Sept. 14

Join us on Thursday, September 14th, from 10am-12pm in the Whitman Auditorium for an exciting presentation from NASA representatives. Learn about NASA and its mission, potential career pathways, available employment and experiential learning opportunities, and resources to be successfully selected for these opportunities.

As one of the largest federal employers in the Commonwealth of Virginia, NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, has partnered with the Virginia Community College System and Virginia Western Community College to share available career opportunities to existing Virginia Western students, as well as alumni. NASA provides a broad range of work-based learning opportunities for students including paid internships, paid apprenticeships, and volunteer programs. In addition, NASA offers career pathway opportunities for students who graduate from a community college and transfer to four-year institutions.

Dispelling the belief that NASA only hires engineers and scientists, NASA has a need for a wide variety of degree programs, including math, computer and IT, physical sciences, marketing, human resources, finance, accounting, technology related programs, and general education. Find out how to apply and compete for opportunities. The presentation includes a 45-minute Q&A and chance to speak directly to a NASA representative.

Current students are encouraged to attend in person, if possible. Zoom link available for any unable to attend in person. Local high school students have been invited to participate, and faculty, staff and alumni are welcome.
