These awards were presented during the General Session of Virginia Western’s In-Service on Jan. 12:
Carole Tarrant received the J. Andrew Archer Administrative/Professional Leadership Excellence Award. This is a peer-to-peer award within the members of the Administrative Faculty Senate Committee. Members nominate a peer within this committee who they feel demonstrates excellent leadership through vision and goal setting, motivation, integrity, team building and excellent communication.
Corey Bapst was named the Classified Employee of the Year. This award recognizes full-time classified employees whose work and contributions to Virginia Western are exemplary, based on, but not limited to the following criteria: job performance; job knowledge and skills; cooperation; dependability; loyalty; attitude; integrity; and relations with fellow employees, students and/or the public.
The Classified Staff Outstanding Achievement Award is designed to acknowledge noteworthy, specific or ongoing contributions or accomplishments beyond regular normal expectations of assigned work duties that result in significant benefits to Virginia Western Community College. This year’s award went to two recipients, Corey Bapst and Jason Reid.
Allison Dooley received the STAR Award. As a forward-thinking college, Virginia Western places an emphasis on service that encompasses inclusion, integrity, respect, teamwork and success. The STAR Award is for those who demonstrate excellence in one or more areas of service, teamwork, achievement and results.
