There have been recent changes to the email system that affects how potential spam messages are handled. Check your junk mail folder often to help train the new system in the event that it marks legitimate emails as spam. Follow the directions below to locate missing messages.
If you are missing an email that you believe has been sent to you, we recommend the following:
- Check the Junk folder. If you use the Outlook client app, check OWA and its Junk folder too.
- Check the Quarantine system, by using the link in the notification email generated to your address.
- Please note: If you use multiple Microsoft Office Accounts you may receive an error when accessing the Quarantine system stating that the account you are logging in with does not have authorization to access the page. To resolve the issue you will need to log out of the system and log in with your @virginiawestern.edu e-mail account.
- Check the Archiver at https://archiver.virginiawestern.edu.
- Report the missing email to the Help Desk and include details on who sent the message and at what date/time.
You can find more information about these e-mail changes on the IET website by going to the college’s home page and clicking Get Support and selecting Help Desk. Once you are at the IET website click SERVICES on the page header, Faculty & Staff E-mail then scrolling down to the Spam Protection section.
Please contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@virginiawestern.edu or 540-857-7354) if you have any questions.
