Cybercriminals like to send mixed signals. They may impersonate your boss or the college president and make odd requests to wire money, purchase gift cards or share sensitive information.

Even if a request appears to come from a legitimate sender, verify using a different communication method. Give them a call, send them an instant message or drop by their desk to confirm. Better safe than sorry!
