Shawnee began her career at Virginia Western in 1980 as a Word Processing Equipment Operator in the Admissions/Records Office. Her supervisors were quick to notice her commitment to the college and our students, and she was promoted to Enrollment and Student Services Assistant in 1986.
She continued to prove herself through hard work and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our students received the best service possible. This was recognized through multiple promotions in the Enrollment Services area. Over her 33 years with the college, peers and supervisors alike praised her work ethic, project management skills, and commitment to forward progress.
Shawnee was recognized throughout the Virginia Community College System for her technical expertise and positive attitude. Her colleagues felt grateful for having the opportunity to work with her and she was critical to the success of our student services division and impactful to our students’ success.
Shawnee was honored as Staff Emeritus at Commencement in 2018.
