Administrative Faculty Senate Workgroup Minutes 4.6.21 Virginia Western’s summer opening plans are under development. The college welcomes several new hires and continues to GetREAL with important college wide committees. The Admin Faculty Senate will elect new leadership for fall 2021 and is adjourned for the spring semester.
CPL Workgroup Minutes 3.31.21 A draft policy document will be presented to the VP of Academic and Student Affairs, and representative of the Institutional Effectiveness office regarding CPL, as work continues for improving the college’s CPL webpage, making it more accessible. Information regarding assessment training by CAEL for faculty will be disseminated, as well as informing the college community of the PLACE class that will be available this summer.
Gen Ed Workgroup Minutes 4.13.21 The Group reviewed final comments for Gen Ed Scoring Sheet and Gen Ed Workgroup Summary. Committee reviewed final scoring sheets for Critical Thinking and Scientific Literacy artifacts, including the comments at the bottom of each scoring sheet.
On Campus Professional Development 4.13.21 The On-campus Professional Development workgroup provided a summary of guidance and suggestions related Fall 2021 in-service to Dr. Wilmer.
Online Learning Workgroup Minutes 3.30.21 Online Learning Workgroup approved a draft policy regarding qualifications for faculty to teach online. Work progressed on developing Quality Assurance Program for online learning with the focus on a online course review process using the Quality Matters rubric as the basis. Work also progressed on a new set of Online Learning Guidelines to replace the older outdate Distance Learning Guidelines.
Staff Senate Workgroup Minutes 4.5.21 The April Staff Senate meeting was well attended and served as an information sharing session and update of College activities. Staff Senate Officer nominations are currently open. Nominations must be submitted to Cathy Ferguson ahead of the April 6, 2021 Staff Senate meeting where the Officer Elections will take place.
