A grade of Withdrawal (“W”) may be requested by a student under extenuating circumstances. Students seeking a withdrawal must submit in writing a request along with supporting documentation to workforce@virginiawestern.edu. A grade of “W” will appear on the transcript. Tuition will not be refunded in non-FastForward courses. For FastForward courses, the first 1/3 of tuition will not be refunded. However, if approved, the student is not responsible for the second 1/3 of the tuition tied to completion. Students who are granted a withdrawal cannot be reinstated back to that class but must wait for next appropriate time frame to re-register.
Extenuating circumstances may include:
- Major medical emergency
- Extreme financial hardship involving sudden, unforeseen loss
- Death of an immediate family member; is defined as a father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, spouse, sibling, stepsibling, child, or stepchild
- National emergency or mobilization declared by the President of the United States in accordance with Section 23-9.6:2 of the Code of Virginia
