This curriculum is designed to meet the essential technical concepts and practices of the air conditioning and refrigeration field. Employment opportunities include air conditioning/refrigeration system installer, air conditioning system service technician, and air conditioning sales.
Students are encouraged after the Academy to complete AIR 123, WEL 120, AIR 154 and BLD 159 to satisfy the requirements for the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Career Studies Certificate (CSC 221-903-10). Completion of the degree meets the educational requirements for taking the journeyman’s exam; however, students must have two years of occupational experience to qualify to take the exam.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the general requirements for admission to the college. Students must complete the Academy Application and the Virginia Placement Test (VPT) . Scores on the VPT must equate to EDE 10 and MTE 1 – 3 (or equivalent).
High School aged 12th graders are encouraged to apply.
