Provides administrative, management, and leadership oversight for the Vice President of Academic and Workforce Solutions in a variety of administrative duties and functions.
15% | Strategic Leadership and Support: Supports the college mission, vision, and values and ensures that strategic planning, assessment, and improvement activities are implemented for the School of STEM and for Workforce Services. Supervises the Associate Dean of STEM in performing management activities. |
15% | Leads the School of STEM: Engages in leadership, management, and assessment activities with school faculty to facilitate utilization of best practices in pedagogy and applications of educational technology; promotes student persistence and success; promotes individual professional growth and development; fosters collegiality; engages in curriculum improvement and development; and fulfills the school and college mission. Evaluates the performance of school faculty per approved processes. |
15% | Leads Workforce Solutions: Directs the operation of workforce development services and continuing education programs. Directs the Workforce Development Specialists in the requisite program offerings at various sites and evaluates the effectiveness of the programs and operations with the staff, faculty, and Vice President of Academic and Workforce Solutions. Evaluates the performance of the Workforce staff per approved processes. |
15% | Workforce Support: Collaborates with workforce coordinators to set up and support workforce training and lifelong learning initiatives. Evaluates workforce programs and services offered to the requisite constituencies to determine effectiveness, satisfaction, and the need for revision. Monitors local and regional market data to ascertain the currency and responsiveness of college offerings related to workforce programs, and to implement continuous improvement and quality assurance measures to ensure the full satisfaction of the customers and the College. Determines the best methods to develop and deliver credit and non-credit courses for workforce training and continuing education related to the academic area. |
10% | Public Engagement: Through highly visible activities, meets and confers with top business and industry leaders, government, and economic development officials, and VCCS and other pertinent state agency officials to ascertain and address the needs for academic programming and workforce development services. Represents the College on matters of regional economic development activities, including setting up close working relationships with regional and state economic development personnel. Meets with regional economic development agencies and officials for formulating and implementing economic development strategies, including serving as the college’s primary point of contact in start-up and expansion efforts for new and existing companies where workforce development services are requested and provided. |
10% | Student Success: Assists students in achieving goals through advising, counseling, and retention activities, referral to student services, certification for graduation, resolution of problems and conflicts, and upholding college policy. |
10% | Program Development: Leads and coordinates school activities related to curriculum development and implementation following VWCC, VCCS, and SCHEV policies and procedures. Facilitates the creation of programmatic and individual course offerings and scheduling. Leads and directs the accreditation process for any school specific accreditations, ensuring compliance with discipline specific accreditation requirements. |
5% | Budget Management: In conjunction with school faculty, assesses needs for faculty, staff, resources, equipment, and technology in relation to College goals and learning outcomes. Participates in the college budgeting process, manages the school’s budget, and seeks external funding through grants, public-private partnerships, or other sources as indicated by the need to support school. Engages in grant activities to promote and fund innovative programs in both STEM and Workforce. |
5% | Internal and External Representation: Serves the college community through participation on college committees, upholding college policy, and representing the college within the VCCS and the broader community to include service on local committees and boards. |
