Backflow Prevention Device Training
The Commonwealth of Virginia requires individuals engaged in maintenance, repair and testing, or periodic inspection
of cross connection devices be certified in backflow prevention. VWCC College offers classes approved by the Department
of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) that meet the training requirements for certification at its Greenfield
campus. Individuals with 7 or more years of work experience are required to complete a 16 hour training class. Refresher
classes may assist professionals in meeting continuing education requirements. Classes are generally offered at least
once each semester. Individuals with less than 7 years work experience are required to take a minimum of 40 hours of
training to become certified.
Basic Contractors Business Licensing
This 8 hour course is designed to provide a basic look at the statutes and regulations that govern contractor licensing in
Virginia, including a review of the different types of licenses available and the qualifications for each, including Standards
of Practice, Prohibited Acts and How to Avoid Violations of the Regulations. This course has been approved by the Virginia
Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, Board for Contractors. As of August 21, 2006, the Contractors' Board
requires all contractors applying for a new license to successfully complete an 8-hour approved basic business course as a
prerequisite to licensure.
CDL Training
This CDL Class A driver training program, in partnership with CDS Tractor Trailer Training, is designed to be skill based and
hands-on to prepare you for the trucking industry. Our courses are intended to focus on developing a strong work ethic,
teamwork, and self-confidence.
Industrial Maintenance Technician
This VWCC Quick Connect Intensive Industrial Maintenance Technician's program introduces students to the knowledge and
skills they will need to work in manufacturing or industrial plants. Entry level industrial maintenance technicians
call upon a variety of skills in electronics, mechanical and digital systems to repair and maintain large and
complex machines.
OSHA 10
While anyone can take the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training course, it is specifically designd for: Workmen; foremen;
job supervisors; and inspectors involved in general industry activities.

Tradesman License Renewal
The VA Board of Contractors requires journeymen, master plumbers, electricians, HVAC mechanics and gas fitters to take continuing
education hours specific to their trade as part of the licensing process. Those renewing a license must take continuing education
in their respective profession. These on-line courses satisfy the DPOR requirements.
VWCC Quick Connect: Welding & AWS Certification
Students will learn GMAW and FCAW welding methods. Credentials from this class include an OSHA 10 Certification, a Commonwealth of
Virginia Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), and an American Welding Society (AWS) Certification. The course meets over 64 hours. Dates,
times, and frequency will be determined each semester. At the end of the course, students will weld inspection coupons which will be
forwarded to a Certified Welding Instructor (CWI). Successful students will receive an AWS certification. An additional three hours
are required for CRC testing.
Water & Wastewater Technology
The 2-semester Water and WasteWater Technology Career Studies Certificate prepares students to become water or wastewater plant
operators in municipal and industrial treatment facilities and laboratories.
