An entry level nursing course which is a mandatory 120 hour course (we provide 130 hours) approved by Virginia Board of Nursing. This course prepares students to give direct care to patients in hospital, nursing home, assisted living and home health settings. Students will learn a variety of basic nursing skills such bathing, dressing, and grooming clients, vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse and respiration, proper feeding and transferring techniques and much more. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the NNAAP certification exam. No less than 40 hours of this course will be dedicated to clinical instruction. Cost $750
Students who have already completed an approved nurse aide course are eligible to take this 68 hour course approved by Virginia Board of Nursing. Students will learn basic pharmacology, the five rights of medication administration and proper techniques for oral and topical administration of medications. They will also learn how to perform blood glucose tests and how to administer insulin. Upon successful completion, they are eligible to sit for the state test to become a Registered Medication Aide. This class is a 40 hour DMAS (Department of Medical Assistance Services) approved training to train and teach qualified, caring individuals to assist with and provide personal services, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation and assisting with vital signs, to clients in their homes. Cost $295
A textbook is included in the fee and provided at class. You will be responsible to supply navy blue scrub pants, white scrub shirt and predominantly white tennis shoes. You will also be required to have a watch with a second had to use in the clinical setting. A blood pressure cuff is available for practice and available to purchase. These classes are non-credit classes and therefore not eligible for Financial Aid.
