Want to help a hurting kid?

Saturday, Oct. 4th, Carilion Hospice will sponsor Camp Treehouse, a day camp experience for children who have had a loved one die. The camp provides a caring, safe environment where children are free to explore their feelings and concerns. Children learn that grief is not a process of forgetting, but remembering with less pain. Volunteers participate in Camp Treehouse as session and recreation assistants and as mentors, working one-on-one with a child to provide support and encouragement as well.

The camp will be held at Camp Hopetree (formerly Camp Jaycee off Rt 460 near Montvale).

Volunteer mentor training will be held in Roanoke on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Dinner will be provided.

Questions? Contact Sue Huntington at 540-224-4795 or sghuntington@carilionclinic.org.

Camp Treehouse looks great on new grad resumes!
