Chief Service: In order to address persistent conditions of economic and social inequities, Alliance for Excellence seeks to enhance opportunities for African American youth through a partnership of community colleges, four-year colleges, and African American churches. Alliance for Excellence seeks to increase participation in higher education among young people in the African American communities of south central Virginia where significant obstacles to equitable economic opportunity remain. We believe that higher education is the key to success in our society today and that collaboration among community colleges, four-year colleges, African American churches, and other youth and economic development programs will foster the leadership skills, social awareness, educational qualifications, and marketability essential for meaningful employment, personal fulfillment, and economic advancement.
