Connecting Students to Academic Success
The Academic Link connects students to academic success by providing the academic support that fosters the acquisition of the critical learning skills that make students better learners. The Link’s free services include academic success coaching; one-on-one, group, and online tutoring; and math, science, and writing walk-in tutoring centers. The Link’s free services include one-on-one, group, and online tutoring, STEM and writing walk-in tutoring centers, and open computer labs.
The one-on-one/group tutoring program provides individual and group tutoring services for students who seek intensive, ongoing assistance in a particular course. The one-on-one/group program goal is to provide assistance to any student who requests it in any subject.
Online tutoring at The Academic Link is available by appointment during regular business hours (see below) to any student who needs assistance with any VWCC course. Tutoring sessions are delivered through Blackboard Collaborate, which has audio, video, and screen-sharing capabilities.
The STEM Center
The STEM Center is a walk-in service where students can get immediate individual help with science, math, engineering, and mechatronics courses on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Writing Center
The Writing Center is a walk-in tutoring service located on the ground floor of Brown Library where students can get help with writing assignments from any course in all stages of the writing process—from invention strategies to critiquing a rough draft or finished text. Students are served in the Writing Center in half-hour to 45-minute increments on a first-come, first-served basis.
