Following is a list of scholarships that are typically available during a scholarship application cycle. Scholarships listed may not be currently available.

Mike Bassett Memorial Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition and other mandatory expenses to students enrolled in Fire Fighting, Administration of Justice, Mental Health, Nursing or other Human Service programs. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be enrolled full-time. Priority is given to graduates of Franklin County High School. 3.00 12 credits Nursing
Liberal Arts
Diana D. Good Memorial Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to students who are enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Program. Students must have completed 6 credits in the Program and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students must also detail their intention to complete the Early Childhood Development Program in the section provided on the scholarship application when applying. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.50 6 credits Early Childhood Development
Judy Hackworth Memorial Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related expenses for a guidance counselor, teacher or student studying education-related courses. 2.00 6 credits Liberal Arts
Beverly and Leon Harris Teaching and Nursing Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who intends to pursue a career in teaching or who is pursuing a degree in Nursing or a certificate in Practical Nursing. Priority is given to students demonstrating financial need. 3.00 6 credits Nursing

HoneyTree Early Learning Center Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related fees to full-time (12 credits) students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average who are enrolled in the Early Childhood Development Program. James Mark Mitchell Memorial Art Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance to full-time students enrolled in the Communication Design Program with a minimum 2.75 grade point average. The student must detail his/her commitment to communication design and community service in the section provided on the scholarship application. One of the letters of recommendation required for the scholarship application must come from a Virginia Western Communication Design faculty member. 2.75 12 credits Communication Design
David L. Nickerson Honorary Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, fees, and books to students who are enrolled in a Liberal Arts program, and who have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Priority is given to students with demonstrated financial need. 3.00 6 credits Liberal Arts
Pearman Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related expenses to second-year students enrolled in the Communication Design Program on a full or part-time basis. Heavy emphasis will be placed on the merit of the student’s portfolio. Portfolio is due in the Foundation office no later than April 15. Barry L. Pendrey Memorial Scholarship Provides assistance to students enrolled in the Administration of Justice Program, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. To be eligible, students must have completed 24 credit hours and have a letter of recommendation from an Administration of Justice faculty member. Please detail your interest in a career in Administration of Justice in the section provided on the scholarship application. 2.50

Administration of Justice
Shenandoah Life Annual Diversity Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition and other related fees to students enrolled in the Business Science Division (Business Administration Associate Degree) or Humanities Division (Liberal Arts Associate Degree). Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average or higher. Heavy emphasis will be place on diverse students with cultural experiences. First priority is given to students who are bi-lingual and fluently speak Spanish. Second priority will be given to minority students. First preference for the scholarship will be for a part-time student; Second preference will be for a full-time student. 3.00 6 credits Business or Liberal Arts
Donald Willson Memorial Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related expenses to students majoring in Liberal Arts. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Recipients must have successfully completed one semester at VWCC within the last two years. 2.50 6 credits Liberal Arts
