Following is a list of scholarships that are typically available during a scholarship application cycle. Scholarships listed may not be currently available.

Mike Bassett Memorial Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition and other mandatory expenses to students enrolled in Fire Fighting, Administration of Justice, Mental Health, Nursing or other Human Service programs. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be enrolled full-time. Priority is given to graduates of Franklin County High School. 3.00 12 credits Nursing
Liberal Arts
Orrin Clifton Annual Scholarship Funds from the Scholarship shall provide assistance for tuition, books and other related expenses for students who are enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.50 6 credits Dental Hygiene
Dr. Kevin Conway Endowed Scholarship Provide assistance for tuition, books and other related fees to students enrolled in Health Technology Division. Students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.50 6 credits Health programs
Rita Halsey David Radiography Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, supplies, and other needs to students enrolled in the Radiography Program with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.50 6 credits Radiography
Foot Levelers Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related fees to full or part-time students enrolled in the Health Technology or Business Division. Priority is given to employees of Foot Levelers and/or their dependents. 2.00 6 credits Business or Health programs
Friendship Retirement Community Registered Nursing Scholarship Provides full tuition, books and other related fees to students entering the second, third, and fourth semester of the Registered Nursing Program. Students must be enrolled and in good standing in the 10 credit/semester Registered Nursing Program. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. The recipient will receive the scholarship in each of the remaining semesters of the Registered Nursing Program if he/she maintains the criteria set by this scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship must meet with Friendship Retirement Community to mutually agree upon a working connection with the facility as a final requirement of receiving the scholarship. 2.00 10 credits Nursing
Katherine Futrell Memorial Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition and books to full-time students with a minimum 3.5 grade point average. Priority is given to a student from the college's School of Health Professions (which includes Nursing, LPN, Radiography, Radiation Oncology, and Dental Hygiene) demonstrating financial need. 3.50 12 credits Health programs
Dr. Donna Harpold Memorial Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related expenses to second-year students in the Nursing Program who have demonstrated academic potential and professionalism. Preference is given to single mothers. 2.00 6 credits Nursing
Beverly and Leon Harris Teaching and Nursing Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who intends to pursue a career in teaching or who is pursuing a degree in Nursing or a certificate in Practical Nursing. Priority is given to students demonstrating financial need. 3.00 6 credits Nursing

Getrude Light Hubbard Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related expenses to students enrolled in the Nursing Program with demonstrated financial need and a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Priority is given to those students who are from Franklin or Roanoke Counties or from Roanoke City Zip Code 24013. 2.50 6 credits Nursing
Hal & Lorraine Jones Memorial Annual Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to a female student entering their final year of study with plans to graduate from the College. This student must be a resident of Virginia and enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a transfer degree program and demonstrate their plans to attend an in-state public institution and to graduate and work in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) profession after graduation. 2.00 6 credits Transfer programs
LewisGale Medical Center Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related expenses to students enrolled in a minimum of 10 credits with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Priority is given to Lewis-Gale Medical Center employees and/or their dependents. Preference is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.50 10 credits Nursing

Nursing Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance to second-year nursing students. Must have a minimum 3.2 grade point average. Selection based on academic achievement and financial need. 3.20 6 credits Nursing
Petroleum Marketers, Inc. Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to students enrolled full-time. Priority will be given to Petroleum Marketers, Inc. employees and their dependents. If none apply, priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. Preference will be given to those students enrolled in the Nursing Program. 2.00 12 credits Nursing

Roanoke Valley Academy of Medicine Alliance Foundation Endowed Scholarship Funds from the Scholarship shall provide assistance for books and other related expenses to a student enrolled full-time in the Health Technology Division.  Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.00 12 credits Health Programs
Richfield Living Annual Nursing Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and fees for a first or second year student enrolled in and in good standing with the Licensed Practical or Registered Nursing program at Virginia Western. Will fund up to 15 credit hours of course work during the fall and spring semesters and will fund the respective cost of programmatic textbooks during the same fall and spring semesters. Recipients of this scholarship must meet with a representative of Richfield Living to mutually agree upon a working connection with Richfield Living as a final requirement of receiving the scholarship. The employment agreement shall be for a term of either 12 months or 24 months, based on the duration of the scholarship funding provided to the scholarship recipient. 2.00 6 credits Nursing
Peter and Roseta Skelly Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books and other related fees to students enrolled in Health Technology Division. Students must be graduates of Patrick Henry or William Fleming high schools in the city of Roanoke. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 2.00 6 credits Health programs
Walter Darnall Vinyard Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, lab fees, and living expenses to students with a minimum 3.0 grade point average who are pursing a degree in Nursing or the Applied Sciences. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. 3.00 6 credits Nursing/Applied Sciences
Michael Warner Memorial Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA enrolled in and pursing a degree in Nursing or certificate in Practical Nursing. Priority will be given to those students demonstrating financial need and who plan to remain in the College's service region after graduation to practice nursing (i.e., LPN or RN students). 3.00 12 credits Nursing
Alice Becker Hinchcliffe Williams Dental Hygiene Licensure Scholarship (SPRING ONLY) Provides assistance for the fees associated with the Dental Hygiene National Board Examination and a regional clinical exam. Priority is given to students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and demonstrated financial need. Recipient must have a letter of recommendation from a Dental Hygiene faculty member and be a member of the Student American Dental Hygiene Association. 2.50 6 credits Dental Hygiene
Alice Becker Hinchcliffe Williams Endowed Scholarship Provides assistance for a first-year and a second-year student enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need.
