The Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) is part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Only 99,000 veterans will qualify for this program.
VRAP offers training for veterans who meet the following the requirements:
You must be enrolled in an approved program of study that leads to a certificate or Associate's Degree in a field that may lead to employment in a high demand occupation.
VRAP started paying benefits on July 1, 2012 and will continue to pay out until March 31, 2014. A student that is eligible for VRAP benefits will be entitled to 12 months of education benefits paid at the same rate as Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) recipients. You must be a full-time student. If you drop below full-time status at any point, your payments will stop.
