Coordinator of Career Services

Reports to: Dean of Student Services (FA099)

The Career Center Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Career Services including the supervision of staff. The Coordinator manages the College-wide web-based job posting system, plans and coordinates career fairs and other career services focused events. The Coordinator also assists students with using Career Center resources and materials in their career exploration and j

50% Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Center. Supervises and evaluates professional, support staff and student workers. Plan and coordinate career fairs and other career services focused events. Responsible for providing placement and internships for students; establishes and maintains an outreach to businesses and governmental agencies to promote career options; maintains collaborative relationships with employers to develop a positive image for the Career Center. Assess employers’ need and communicates needs to academic deans. Analyzes and compiles information on occupation technical degree graduates for the purpose of placing future graduates; networking opportunities; options for internships and providing feedback to divisions on academic preparation of graduates. Build networks and establish effective working partnerships. Manages the college-wide job posting system. Oversees the posting of work-study positions.
20% Advise students, graduates, and alumni on career issues including job search strategies, resume writing and interviewing through one on one assistance or workshops. Research and communicate current job postings to active candidates on a regular basis. Prepare email and written communication to students, graduates, and campus community. Maintain cooperative partnership with employers to identify viable job opportunities for students, internship program participation, career fair participation, guest speaking, etc. Instructs how to use resume writing software to help develop a resume, and instructs how to use practice interviews software.
20% Provides direct individual and group career advising, emphasizing self-knowledge, knowledge of the world of work, and rational career decision making. Administers and interprets appropriate assessment instruments. Provides student services personnel and faculty with career information necessary for their advising activities. Works with student services personnel, faculty, program heads, and deans to promote the inclusion of career and placement activities in the classroom. Assists students with using general Career Center resources and materials in their career exploration. Works individually with students to administer career related assessments.
10% Data collection, assessment of services and reporting of graduates and internships for reporting purposes. Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Services.
