Application Instructions

Log in to the Application

You will need to create a username and password in order to access the application. This is different than your VCCS username and password. If you started an application less than 30 days ago but cannot remember your username and password, you will need to create a new one. Usernames and passwords cannot be retrieved or reset. If it has been more than 30 days since you began your application, you are considered a new user.

Carefully read and complete each section of the application. The menu on the left can be used to view the status of each section. A green highlighted number indicates you have completed that section. Click the question mark in a blue circle if you have questions about what is being asked for.

  2. Enter the security code from the picture into the yellow box.
  3. Click either the Returning Users or New Users button.
  4. If you are a New User, enter the required information and click Submit.
  5. If you are a Returning User, enter the username and password you created and click Submit.
  6. To review and complete an existing application, click Review. Otherwise, click Apply.
  7. Read the information on the next page and click Apply Now.

Personal Information

  1. Enter your official name.
  2. If desired, enter your Social Security Number twice. You may choose not to provide your SSN, but it is highly recommended that you do.
  3. If applicable, enter your former name. If you attended a Virginia community college before 2003, enter your middle initial, not your entire middle name.
  4. Enter your date of birth.
  5. Choose Virginia Western Community College from the college list.
  6. Choose the Credit button. If you are interested in applying for Non-Credit (Workforce) classes, please visit the WES site.
  7. Choose Main campus.
  8. Choose the term you plan to begin classes in.
  9. If you previously applied to, attended, or have been employed by any Virginia community college, enter your Student ID (Emplid). If you do not know your Student ID (Emplid), retrieve it here.
  10. Click Save & Continue.

If you are a former student that has not been in attendance for ten years or longer, your student records have been archived. Because of this, it may take up to 24 hours for your records to be reactivated. After the 24 hour reactivation period, you may continue with the application process by using the application login ID (username) and password that you created at the beginning of the application process. If after 24 hours you are unable to complete your application, contact the Enrollment Center at 855-874-6690.

Address Information

  1. Enter your Phone Number.
  2. Enter your Mailing Address.
  3. Choose which county or city you live in from the Current Residence list.
  4. Choose whether you have lived in Virginia for the last twelve months.
  5. Enter your Email Address.
  6. Enter contact details for an Emergency Contact.
  7. If you are employed, enter your Employer's Name and Phone Number.
  8. Click Save & Continue.

Additional Personal Information

The first three questions are entirely optional. If you do not wish to answer a question, please choose "Not Indicated" if possible.

Educational History

  1. Click the Edit High School button.
  2. Choose your level of high school education and then use the Select button and follow the instructions to find your high school or enter the requested information if you were home-schooled or have a GED.
  3. Enter your graduation date and then choose your type of diploma.
  4. Click Save & Continue.
  5. If applicable, repeat steps 1-4 with the College/University section. Also indicate whether you were suspended or dismissed from the last college attended.
  6. Choose your father's and mother's highest education level. This information is collected for statistical purposes only and has no bearing on your admission to the college.
  7. Click Save & Continue.

Educational Goals

  1. Choose whether you plan to pursue a degree.
  2. If you do plan to pursue a degree, click the Select a Plan button to choose a plan of study. For more information about VWCC's programs, please visit our Academics section.
  3. If you do not plan to pursue a degree, choose your reason for taking classes. If you are currently in high school or home school, you must select one of the options for dual enrollment: 041, 042 or 043.
  4. Click Save & Continue.

Domicile Determination Form

You must click Apply in order to complete the domicile questionnaire, which will be used to determine if you qualify for in-state or out-of-state tuition rates.

  1. When the In-state Tuition Questionnaire is displayed, read each item carefully and select the appropriate answer. 
  2. When you have completed the questionnaire, click Save.
  3. You will receive a summary of the questions and answers you provided. Confirm your answers and select either Continue or Restart. Select Continue to proceed to the final submission process.

Submit the Application

  1. Click Submit Application.

The submission process will take several minutes. Do not click Submit Application more than one time.

When the process is complete, you will receive confirmation that your application has been submitted successfully with the college and term information. Click Continue on each page for the following information:

  • your Student ID (Emplid)
  • your Username
  • your Tuition Information: In-State or Out-of-State Classification
  • Special Notices: additional documentation or information that may be required to complete your admission process
  • Academic Information: your assigned plan of study. If you selected a plan of study that requires special admission, such as those in Allied Health and Nursing, you will be assigned to the corresponding career studies plan.

Print the application summary page so you have a record of all information associated with your application process.
