Dual Enrollment

Virginia Placement Testing

Virginia Western Community College requires dual enrollment students to adhere to all college Admission policies. Students must show that they are college ready by meeting required scores in both English and Mathematics on the Virginia Placement Test (VPT) or an alternative VCCS approved assessment. Students taking the VPT on campus MUST provide their EMPLID and a photo ID when they register at the Testing Center.

Dual-enrollment students will be required to complete ALL parts of the VPT or meet the criteria posted for alternative assessment. Students may combine assessments. Testing scores are valid for two years.

The charts below show the admission criteria that students must meet to enroll in dual enrollment courses. Some courses may have additional pre- or co-requisites. The VWCC catalog is the official source for information relating to placement testing and course requirements. This chart is a guideline that may not represent the most current information found in our on-line catalog. Please refer to the on-line catalog when planning for testing or enrollment needs.
