This class is specifically designed for Communication Design students or those who want a background in film-based photography as it applies to digital media. This class will introduce the concepts of photography from both a digital and a film-based perspective. A manually adjustable DIGITAL camera is required. Some darkroom work will be done, but film-based cameras will be provided during class time.

This is our standard Introduction to Photography class which is film and darkroom based. A manually adjustable FILM camera is required. A list of class supplies will be provided on the first night of class. This class also fulfills the photography requirement for the Communication Design program.

This class will explore night photography and painting with light. Students will also be introduced to the view camera and will have the opportunity to use medium format cameras and Holgas during the semester. Some classes will be on location workshops. A film or digital 35mm camera with manual settings is needed for this course. Darkroom privileges will be available for students who have completed PHT 101 or who have equivalent darkroom experience. Mac Lab privileges will be available for students using digital cameras. Students will complete a portfolio of images during the semester. This class will meet on the following Thursdays: January 9, February 13, March 20, April 10 and May 1, 2014.
