Identifying Class Types in the Class Schedule

These are the different types of classes that are being offered for Fall 2020, and how you can identify them in the class schedule.

Asynchronous Online

These classes are entirely online, and do not have a scheduled online meeting time.

Example of an asynchronous class

  1. The class section will start with a V.
  2. Days & Times will be TBA.
  3. Room will be Virtual Classroom.

Synchronous Online

These classes are entirely online, but have scheduled online meeting times that you will need to be present for.

Example of a synchronous class

  1. The class section will start with a Z.
  2. Days & Times will be listed. You are expected to be present online for these meeting times.
  3. Room will be Virtual Classroom.

Hybrid Lecture & Lab Class: Synchronous Online Lecture & Face-to-Face Lab

These classes have scheduled online meeting times, and lab meeting times that are face-to-face on campus.

  1. The class section will start with a HY.
  2. Days & Times will be listed. For LEC, you are expected to be present online for these meeting times. For LAB, you are expected to be present in the classroom on campus.
  3. Room will be Virtual Classroom for the LEC and a classroom location for the LAB.

Hybrid Lecture & Lab Class: Asynchronous Online Lecture & Face-to-Face Lab

These classes have online lectures that do not meet at a particular time, and lab meeting times that are face-to-face on campus.

  1. The class section will start with a HY.
  2. For the LEC, Days & Times will be TBA. For the LAB, you will be in the classroom on campus during the listed Days & Times.
  3. Room will be Virtual Classroom for the LEC and a classroom location for the LAB.

Hybrid Lecture Class: Synchronous Online Lecture & Face-to-Face Lecture

These classes have lectures that occur both online at a schedule time and face-to-face in the classroom on campus.

Example of a class with both online and on-campus lectures

  1. The class section will start with a HY.
  2. Days & Times will be listed. You are expected to be present online and on-campus for these meeting times.
  3. There will be both a Virtual Classroom and a classroom location listed.

For example, the class above would meet on Mondays from 1:00 - 1:50PM in STEM 117, and on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 1:50PM online.
