A Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a five-year action plan to improve student learning or the student learning environment. The QEP is part of our reaffirmation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This project provides an opportunity for Virginia Western to make significant changes that will help our students.
During the 2011-2012 academic year, focus groups of students, faculty, and staff were held to develop topics for the QEP. Based on these, our campus community selected Advising as the overall topic. In August 2012, the Advising topic was refined to be Advising Teamwork. By the end of the fall 2012 semester, the QEP was named "Navigate: Get THERE through Team Advising".
For the QEP to be successful, VWCC strongly believes that broad based campus involvement in its development is essential.Throughout the 2012-2013 academic year, several teams and multiple committees developed and designed the QEP through numerous meetings. The QEP document will be completed and submitted to SACSCOC in early August 2013. Preliminary implementation will begin in fall 2013 with professional development for faculty and staff. The SACSCOC on-site review committee will be on campus from October 1-3, 2013. Our plan may be refined based on feedback from this review committee.
